6-8 Mile Tempo Run

Who: Team Challenge
What: 6-8 Mile Tempo Run
Where: Trail into Philadelphia that originates out at Valley Forge.

Coollllddd morning. I wore compression pants and looser fit pants over them… and on top, a loose compression shirt, a tight compression shirt, AND a running jacket. So the run was just weird because I felt overdressed.

It was also my first group SPEED workout. The chart said 6-8 miles. My coach said the intermediates were doing 7. I felt it was a good workout, but it was definitely tough. We did a 1.5 mile warmup, then ran very fast paced for 4.5. Then we did a cooldown on the seventh mile. My overall average pace was 8:36, which is hysterical because that’s probably around my normal pace for a run of that distance… but it’s a mixture of fast and slow in the warmup and cooldown. I think… that is probably part of the point.

Laptimes… after the jump.

Mile 1 - Warmup: 9:18
Mile 2 - Half warmup, then kicked into tempo: 8:32
Mile 3: 7:50 (Faaaast)
Mile 4: 8:09
Mile 5: 8:30 (I’m blaming a killer headwind. Sure. Right.)
Mile 6: 8:06 (Really proud of getting back up to this speed when I wanted to DIE)
Mile 7 - Cooldown: 9:46
