7 Mile Tempo Run
This post is subtitled: Can’t Sleep, Clowns Will Eat Me
Who: Team Challenge Group
What: 7 Mile Tempo Run
Where: Kelly Drive, Philly
It was supposed to be a 10k race by the training chart, but there simply aren’t any local 10k’s going on so we did a group tempo run, which should be similarly painful. By all measurements this was a successful run… it was definitely the fastest sustained run of this distance that I have EVER done. Half mile warmup, half mile cooldown, total of 6 miles booking it. Average pace per mile was… 8:04. That’s exceptional for me.
Here’s the subplot. My toe hurts. Whine whine whine, I know. But for the last several weekends I can’t take socks off without finding a bit of red. My left second toenail was black last weekend. This weekend it isn’t black… but it definitely hurts. A lot. So much that I can’t sleep. I’m a big wuss. Ha.
Took some aspirin and hoping that helps. But meanwhile, stats, after the jump.
Mile 1: 8:13 (Half mile warmup in there)
Mile 2: 7:54
Mile 3: 8:02
Mile 4: 7:58
Mile 5: 8:07 (And quite tired)
Mile 6: 7:57 (Coach wanted to push it from 5.5 to 6.5 and this is the result)
Mile 7: 8:18 (Half mile cooldown)
Times are bouncing around more than I’d really like from a soldier in peacetime, but overall… not bad.
