This Post Has Become Legion
I’ve been bad about posting, so this is a huge catchup post. I’ll deal first with the holidays, then with the half marathon stuff after a cut.
So the holidays were good. We went up to Montreal to visit with family and friends, and a good time was had. There were dark clouds surrounding the holidays in some respects, when a good friend of ours lost her grandfather, who sounds like an amazing person, and another good friend lost her…. gulp… husband. He was really quite young but had struggled with lymphatic cancer over the last… year and a half, I suppose? I know that is sort of depressing but it was, unfortunately, part of this holiday season.
We did have a good time though, and it was very good to see everyone, even those who struggled with such difficult circumstances. All of our best wishes.
Anyway, for pictures and other interesting things, feel free to hit up our flickr… which is linked on the right sidebar.
Now… for the more mundane… workout stuff. After the cut.
We were told that during Christmas week, we could just do lighter cardio as best as we could, so I hit my mother-in-law’s exercise bike. I’ll admit I worked up a sweat. But it didn’t FEEL like as much work. And certainly, when starting back up, my bones didn’t feel… like they were conditioned. I was fine cardio-wise, for the most part, but… seriously, my first run back on Monday felt sort of rough and weird, especially at first.
But I did 4 miles on Monday, outside (which felt nice, even though it was cold, because a lot of even the previous runs were inside on a treadmill). Last night, I did MOST of a 50 minute tempo run. Turns out when I’m in cooldown and I get back to my front door with time remaining on the cooldown portion, all will to continue leaves.
So we are back up and moving toward Miami. It’s amazing that I only have four more weeks to go as of this Sunday.
