Jedi Academy Demo

There have been complaints about this game already. That it is too linear, that it looks dated.

Well, personally, I don't think force-gripping people and dropping 'em off the side of a cliff ever gets old.

At the very least, the demo is well worth the download. Had a blast with it tonight. Grab it here.

I played the demo on Saturday and I was surprised to have a lot of fun with it. I played Jedi Outcast a bit and had some pretty entertaining team deathmatches, but on the whole the game didn't stick with me.

Jedi Academy just seems like a much more highly refined game (even from the demo). Even though the controls and the graphics are largely the same as Jedi Outcast, it just *feels* better to play. The force powers are much better tuned (i.e. healing isn't stupidly powerful) and lightsaber combat, which was always the highlight for me, seems more intuitive even though there's a lot more subtlety to it now (I love the kicks when you're using a double-bladed lightsaber).

My only complaint was that it was hard to distinguish where the lightsaber sounds were coming from while I was playing this demo and Desiree was playing Knights of the Old Republic on the other side of the room. :)

Sorry... I think I'm done with my video game reviewer/Star Wars geek moment now...

*drool* Knights of the Old Republic. I can't wait to pick it up on PC. I'm trying to exercise self-control and NOT buy an xbox just to play it. :-P
